Back home in the southeast, he's known by his southern nickname "Jody." Joseph G. "Joe" or "Jody" Hanford serves with Campus Crusade for Christ in Los Angeles. His passion is evangelism and reaching those who don’t know the Lord, and helping students and staff better understand how to present Jesus Christ to others in a relevant way. He is most amazed at how passionate the new believers are in closed countries with persecution risks when they come to know Jesus Christ.
Overseas Focus – Finding, training, launching, and managing overseas outreach teams. His team in California gives leadership to Campus Crusade missionary outreach in 5 closed countries in the Middle East and Asia and 5 other nations in Africa, Asia, and South America. Depending on the year, there are between 80 to 100 full-time missionaries involved. He also helps send around 250 students on 6-week summer missions outreaches. He has been on 16 missions trips to Russia and Ukraine, 2 to East Asia, and 1 each to Japan and El Salvador. The focus is always the same: sharing the gospel with those who don’t know Christ and discipling and building up those who trust Christ.
